Blog 7: Once upon a time in Chula Vista....

June 11, 2013.

Hey Guys, Stevie Spain here,

I am especially excited today. But first, since this is an online jounral and I probably won't be posting daily, I think I'm going to state the date of post at the beginning of each journal entry. Then I will keep the topics at the top, along with "Blog #7." This is going to be effective starting today.
Now why am I excited, you may ask? Nope, it isn't just because I'm a fifteen year old boy *if you know what I mean* but rather my friend and I are making a movie. We're both producing, acting out, and editing a full movie. It won't be extremely long, definitely not one of those hour or two hour long movies. I think it will only be a couple minutes long, maybe ten of fifteen. Our intro itself was about 1 minute and a half, which is pretty good in my book.
We started filming today, and it is about gangsters. Since this isn't or a school or anything, we aren't bound to anything. We can do whatever we want. We don't have to restrain ourselves from fake drugs, blood, guns, cursing, and everything that makes a gangsters movie what it is.
I think my favorite part of everything is all the fake blood and ridiculousness that we are doing. I'm guessing our inspiration is a Tarantino movie where it is interesting but ridiculously bloody. Look at Django Unchained for example. A revolver made a women fly about 20 feet. You might as well have planted dynamite on the poor women. What we did is my friend, Andres, he connected a plastic tube to a small garden thing and he pumps the garden thing and sprays it. Connected to the nozzle is the plastic tube, and we stick the tube inside our shirts in order to make a spilling blood effect. It actually comes out very nicely, and you see blood coming around everywhere. We are still figuring out how to make blood spray, but I think we know how to do it already.
We recorded about three minutes today, and had a massive cleanup. I was in a pool of blood and had to take a shower afterwards because of how insanely dirty I was. I am so excited I can't wait till next time we film, and I legitimately am willing to make the mess I did today again so I can make it. Even editing the movie is fun. I love every single part of it.
I was thinking today, and I think I actually found my main niche. I love every aspect of filming.

     Stevie Spain, signing out.
